After ending the week with 3 straight wins, Sens netminder Craig Anderson has received the NHL’s first star of the week honours for the third time this season.
Anderson’s numbers for the week were dazzling (as usual) and he posted a .943 Sv% and a 1.44 GAA to go along with his 3-0-1 record. Another number that played a role for the Sens netminder is the #500 as he was honoured before Tuesday’s game against the Red Wings for playing in his 500th NHL game a few days prior.
“It went a little longer than I expected and it was just one of those things where it hits home,” said Anderson about the pre-game festivities. “It was definitely emotional but I think the guys rallied around it and I rallied around it and we had a great all around effort.”

He closed the season with two more wins, making 28 saves in a 2-1 shootout victory against the Boston Bruins April 6 and 18 stops in a 3-1 triumph over the New York Rangers April 8. The 35-year-old Park Ridge, Ill., native posted a 25-11-4 record with a 2.28 goals-against average, .926 save percentage and five shutouts in 40 outings in 2016-17.
