With two starts in the bag after the Sens opening weekend, Craig Anderson spoke to the media today ahead of Ottawa’s four game western road trip.

Here’s what he had to say…

On the downtime on the west coast:

I think a couple of days off will help you adjust to the timezone, I think that’ll be the biggest thing is just changing the timezone. When you play a 7 o’clock game out west it’s really starting at 10 o’clock out east so by being out there a day or two ahead of time and spending a few days out there kind of can adjust and your body can adapt and hopefully that works in your favour.

On if the trip puts the team in a good mood:

So far so good, I think. It gives a lot of guys time to come together and, like I said, you get to know each other quite a bit on the plane and on the road and there’s not a lot of distractions other than the ones you create with your teammates. It’s usually a good thing and we’re just looking forward to playing some games. We’re going to have to be on the road at some points throughout the year and you might as well get it out of the way at the start of the season here, that way we’re not dreading it come February and March.

On keeping it a business trip:

It’s gotta be, I mean, at any given time any team can beat another team in this league. That’s just kind of the way things go. You don’t know which point or two points are going to be huge coming down the stretch so you’ve got to be able to keep climbing the standings and keep getting points. That’s kind of the thing you have to do is just focus one game at a time, not getting too far ahead of yourself. If you start thinking “Oh, we need four out of seven,” or you start putting long term goals together, you might lose sight of the short term stuff and the short term thing is working on our game, playing the right way and letting the points take care of themselves.
